LaVonna Duncan was born in the U.S. Virgin Islands and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Her formal training began at schools for the performing arts; prior to becoming an award-winning competition dancer in south Florida. LaVonna majored in Communication Sciences & Disorders as well as Dance Studies at the University of South Florida. Later, earning an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology.
LaVonna's professional experience in the industry includes music videos, commercials, Universal Studios Orlando, DreamWorks Madagascar LIVE, USF SunDolls dance team, production dancer in “VegasTheShow!”, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (including the award winning “Katonga”). She has toured internationally (to over 60 countries) with Eclipse show Productions, Dallas Black Dance Theatre II, Dance Now! Ensemble, Josee Garant dance company, Holland America, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. LaVonna has also made a name choreographing and teaching and is now an Audition Instructor for Norwegian Creative Studios. As a skilled dancer, teacher, choreographer, fitness instructor, and entrepreneur, LaVonna is more than thrilled to bring her passion and expertise to those in Lake Alfred and the neighboring community.
Shanice Anthony began dancing at the age of five at North Andrews Gardens Elementary School of the arts, and later Dillard Center for the Arts; under the instruction of Juilliard graduate, Hannah Baumgarten and Joffrey Ballet’s very own, Jo Matos. Shanice has studied many forms and styles of dance. She competed in dance competitions for ten years with D.A.N.C.E, Inc, including Starpower, Showbiz, StarSystems, and Showstoppers to name a few.
NEVER MISS A CHANCE TO DANCE
All the while, Shanice also formally trained and competed with pre-Olympic team, American Dream Gymnastics. When she was fourteen, Shanice decided to pick up cheerleading, where she brought her dance and gymnastics background together. Shanice moved on to dancing for the University of North Florida where she also studied Business. She is excited to now pass on her extensive knowledge of dance, gymnastics and cheerleading to the students of L.A. Dance Center, LLC.
